Sensor has a clear fetch in all directions and is a reliable indicator of wind. On due west winds, however, station readings may show variability due to turbulence coming of of Tolly Point land.

As the sensor is mounted high about 20 and located in the Chesapeake channel, southerly wind readings near shores generally see less wind at the surface and varies with water temperature. The rule of thumb for southerly winds is to subtract the following amount for the measured water temps as follows: 80s: Subtract 1 mph from reading average 70s: Subtract 2 mph 60s: Subtract 3 mph 50s: Subtract 4 mph 40s: Subtract 5 mph
