30.1 inch high pressure will progress into the saint lawrence
valley tonight as a weak area of 29.7 inch low pressure
concurrently moves toward the southern hudson bay. light
southeasterly winds will thus become established over the northern
half of the open waters this evening, with easterly winds
persisting further south. a broad area of 29.2 inch low pressure
will migrate into the northern rocky mountains on thursday,
allowing southeasterly breezes to become established across the
entirety of lake michigan.
a strong area of low pressure near 28.9 inches will form in the
central great plains on friday, quickly progressing into the upper
mississippi valley by dawn saturday. gusty southeast winds will
develop ahead of the approaching low by friday evening, when
widespread gusts between 25-30 knots are expected across all of
the open waters. these gusts will continue into the first half of
saturday evening as the low pressure center moves from northern
wisconsin to ontario. thunderstorms will accompany the approaching
low late friday night, with rain showers continuing into saturday.
